Android Setup Guide

By EdgeVPN Support

Setting up EdgeVPN on your Android device is quick and easy. This comprehensive guide will walk you through installation, configuration, and optimization to ensure you get the best VPN experience on your Android smartphone or tablet.

System Requirements

Before installing EdgeVPN, verify your device meets these requirements:

  • Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) or later (Android 10+ recommended)
  • At least 50MB of free storage space
  • Active internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data)
  • Google Play Store access (or ability to sideload APK)

EdgeVPN is optimized for modern Android versions and supports devices from all major manufacturers including Samsung, Google Pixel, OnePlus, Xiaomi, and more.

Step 1: Download from Google Play Store

Installing EdgeVPN from the Play Store is the recommended method:

  1. Open Google Play Store on your Android device
  2. Tap the search bar and type "EdgeVPN"
  3. Find EdgeVPN by FastTec B.V. (look for our official teal and blue logo)
  4. Tap "Install" to begin downloading
  5. Wait for installation to complete (typically 30-60 seconds)
  6. Tap "Open" to launch the app

You can also visit edgevpn.com/download on your Android browser and tap the Google Play badge to go directly to our app listing.

Alternative: Direct APK Download

If you don't have access to Google Play Store:

  1. Visit edgevpn.com/download/android on your device
  2. Download the official APK file
  3. Enable "Install from unknown sources" in your device settings
  4. Locate the downloaded APK in your Downloads folder
  5. Tap it to install
  6. Grant necessary permissions when prompted

Always download APK files only from our official website to avoid security risks.

Step 2: First Launch and Permissions

When you first open EdgeVPN, you'll need to grant some essential permissions:

  1. Launch EdgeVPN from your app drawer
  2. VPN Connection Permission: Android will display a connection request dialog
    • This allows EdgeVPN to create secure VPN tunnels
    • Tap "OK" to grant permission
    • This is a one-time request required for VPN functionality
  3. Network Access: EdgeVPN needs to monitor network state
    • This helps the app reconnect automatically when switching networks
    • Tap "Allow" when prompted

These permissions are standard for VPN applications and are necessary for EdgeVPN to protect your connection.

Step 3: Account Setup

You'll need an EdgeVPN account to use the service:

Getting Started

  1. On the welcome screen, tap "Get Started" or "Continue"
  2. The app automatically generates your anonymous customer ID
  3. Agree to Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
  4. Tap "Continue"

Your customer ID is displayed in the app settings and can be used to manage your subscription. No email or password required - your subscription is managed entirely through Google Play Store.

Step 4: Select Your Subscription Plan

EdgeVPN offers three flexible plans:

Free Plan

  • 10GB monthly data
  • Access to 15 servers
  • Standard support
  • Perfect for trying out the service

  3. Tap any server to connect immediately
  4. Use the search bar to find specific countries quickly

Specialized Servers

Look for these server types:
